Ski area Serfaus

Skiing in Tyrol - winter vacation in Austria

Tyrol's ski dimension, one of the largest family ski areas in Tyrol, was created through the merger of the Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis ski areas. As a large ski area, it extends from 1,200 m to 2,820 m and is much more than just a common ski pass.
The range of slopes on the high plateau is ideal for beginners and advanced skiers as well as for the whole family: wide slopes with plenty of space - also for carving! - enable skiing of all levels of difficulty in your ski area in Tyrol.

Discover Ladis in Tiol

Ladis is 1,180 m above sea level, has around 540 inhabitants and an area of 710 ha.

Ladis is old culture soil. Urn fields from the time 1000 BC BC prove that it was already settled at that time. In Roman times, Ladis was a rest stop on the "Via Claudia Augusta" road. In 1220, the "ecclesia de Laudes" as a chapel or small church in a document of Pope Honorius III. first mentioned.

Ladis was the seat of the Laudegg High Court for over 400 years. The residence of the keepers and judges of the Laudegg court was the castle of the same name until 1684, which still towers proudly over the village and the romantic village pond, which invites you to various leisure activities. The castle already existed in the early Middle Ages, which is proven by remains of wall remains. In 1964 the ruins passed to the current owners, the Apel / von Möller families, who thankfully renovated it and made it habitable. There are weekly guided tours in summer.
Due to the occurrence of Sauerbrunn and sulfur springs, Ladis was a well-known bathing resort centuries ago. The Sauerbrunn spring in Obladis was discovered in 1212 by the shepherd Nikolaus Schederle. The healing spring was preferred by the last Tyrolean Habsburg emperor Maximilian I for drinking cures. Today in Obladis the popular and extremely healthy "Tiroler Sauerbrunn" (state-recognized healing spring) is still bottled and sold, it can also be tasted directly at the source.
Ladis was able to retain its original Rhaeto-Romanic townscape and is proud of the centuries-old farmhouses that still exist with fresco paintings, open stairs, carved gable struts and ovens. Individual components date from the 8th century. The barrel fountains are also characteristic.
Due to the importance of the healing spring in Obladis, the first holiday guests came to Ladis, so Ladis can be described as the tourist cradle of the sunny plateau. One of the oldest ski clubs in Tyrol was founded in Ladis as early as 1912. This date can be equated with the beginning of winter tourism in the region, starting from Obladis.

Dear guests and friends of the Hotel Maximilian,

Unfortunately, the corona pandemic and its effects are forcing us, despite the impending easing and reopening possibilities, to make a decision that is really not easy for us with regard to the upcoming summer season.
Due to many unforeseeable and plannable situations, the management decided not to open the Hotel Maximilian in the upcoming summer season. This "not opening" in summer is very difficult for us, but unfortunately it cannot be avoided.

We ask for your understanding and would like to thank all guests who had planned to spend their summer vacation with us in the next few weeks. We would be very happy to see you again maybe in winter.

All the best and stay healthy.
